Thanks to all who came out for the Parade Run last night. And a HUGE congratulations on a job well done to race directors Marcia Grant and Mary Rogers.
Through either running or volunteering, I've been around the Parade Run for over a decade.
From an organizational perspective, the Parade Run is one of the toughest races that the SRRC organizes. Even though it is only two miles, there are so many moving parts with this race that it really takes a ton of work to pull it off.
This is no disrespect to any of the former directors, but last night's race was the most well-run Parade Run that I have seen.
The race started on time (5:30 pm exactly); the last participant came across the finish at 6:00 pm; the results/awards were completely calculated by 6:10 pm; and the entire event was wrapped up by 6:40 pm.
That is AWESOME!

I've seriously neglected this blog for no reason other than I haven't made
the time to sit down and compose something. Which is kind of sad because

Tim, I agree wholeheartedly. Everything went smooth. Results were posted instantly, Awards were handed out swiftly, Chip timing was the bomb. All the volunteers rocked.
I had a great time last night.
Great job to all involved.
Great race and organization last night. Why do the onlineraceresults folks round all the times to the nearest second though? The results on the gazebo said I ran 11:59.68 but the official results on the website say 12:00. I want my .32 seconds back!
I love the chip timing and it would be great if more of our races ended up being chip-timed in the coming years.
See everyone at Abe's.
Hey Aaron (and everyone else) - thanks for the great feedback. Volunteers and tag timing made this race run so smoothly. I truly appreciate everyone's help from start to finish.
I'll ask the company if we can choose to have the official results mirror those posted after the race - great idea ('cause I'd want my 32 seconds back too!)
Hey, chuck, you were quick at the parade race last night. Did you hear me yell "Go, Chuck, Go"? Just as I arrived at the race, you ran past me, couldn't really see ya, just a blur because you were like Flash Gordan, lol. Good job!
Me a blur? Now that is funny. Are you sure I was like Flash Gordon? I remember him being a white guy having a Red with Gold trim outfit and I was wearing Blue with Black trim and a brown guy. - LOL
HOWL AT THE MOON
The howl is history for another year. There was about 6 or 7 runners from Springfield and surrounding towns(Waverly was well represented.) Weather was perfect and a big factor in helping so many runners reach or exceed their mileage goals. The winning total was 60 miles and the winning female total was 58 miles. Winning walking total was 40 miles. Carl Benton, while not happy with his total still was able to come in in fourth overall. The overall results haven't been posted yet on the Kennekuk Road Runners web site. While 8 hours of running & walking may sound kinda crazy it is one hell of a way to challenge yourself; I wish more folks from Springfield would try it. There is a co-ed shower!!!
Tim MU
USAT&F regulations require rounding up of road race times to the next second, if the fractional seconds is not exactly zero.

Thanks!
Tim,
U R the man! No thank you for the mega marathon. Maybe it would make 26.2 seem like a breeze! Running 20 miles next week. R U in or do you have an 80 miler planned? LOL!!!!
Kim
So if an elite runner goes 3:59.1 in a road mile then USATF says that his official result is 4:00?
Interesting.
Congrats Tim Mu, Jack and Carl on Howl at the Moon. I told Jack and Carl that "maaaaaaybe" I'd try it, but Holly, Marie and Stephen N would have to do it with me too! :)
BTW, "Chuck-a-rooni"??? Is this your new pet name that Heather gave you?? LOL! :) I kind of like calling you, "Char-los" (Charlie with Carlos)
