Abe's Amble

Thanks to everyone who made the 2008 Abe's Amble a rousing success!

The weather was perfect. We had a huge crowd (not quite a record, but close). The results were timely and correct. The awards ceremony started on time and everything was wrapped by about 10:15 a.m. Not bad for a 7:30 a.m. 10k race with over 1000 participants.

All in all, it could not have gone any better.

I want to say a special thank you to Mark Beagles and Tim Marker for staying on as race directors. They did a ton of work and had things in place when the rest of us stepped in to assist.

Also, a big thanks to Sports Editor Jim Ruppert of the State Journal-Register for the great coverage they annually give to Abe's Amble. For those of you may not know Jim, he's a great guy, but not much of a fan of the State Fair. Every year, though, he makes it out on the last day to cover Abe's.
