Route for Saturday, Sept. 1

We will be running the Lincoln Memorial Half Marathon course this Saturday, September 1. We ran a good portion of this route this past Saturday. The only change from the actual LM course is that we'll start/finish at the Old State Capitol instead of starting at the Presidential Library and ending at St. John's.

Since Wendy and I will not be there this weekend, several people have indicated they would put out water. It would be nice if we could have water about every two miles. We probably have enough people so each person would only have to put out one or two water stops. Post something if you are willing to put out water and we'll get it divided up for everyone with water stop assignments in advance of Saturday.

We'll miss ya Saturday...this promises to be fun, but we'll be slogging through a half marathon in Wisconsin on Sunday!

Here's a link to the map of Saturday's route: www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=158409

Tim and Wendy,
Good luck on your race too. BTW, I think I may add more miles before the HW again. Not much...maybe 3.

Jenny,
I just had a thought, would you like to put the water and gatorade at the corner of Walnut/Williams? That would be at mile 3.

The Wash Park Shelter can be used for a Water stop for 5.5 mile mark.

Then, I will put water and gatorade at mile 7 (approx. Lincoln/Jefferson, like last weekend)

Can someone put water and gatorade at Oak Ridge Cemetery entrance (just past 9 miles there)?

Nelson Center can be used as a water stop or someone can put water and gatorade there too.

What do you think?

I can do Oak Ridge (just outside the entrance gate like last time right Chuck?) and Nelson Center. Call if changes 341-7782.

Jennifer,
Thanks for moving it to the Williams and Walnut corner. That will be just past the 3rd mile mark.

Barb,
Yes, the entrance of Oak Ridge would be a great spot, past the 9th mile mark.

Steve,
3rd and Eastman would be perfect..just before the 12th mile.

Water/bathroom breaks will be Wash. Park (5.5 mi) and Nelson Center (10.5 mi)

Will there by any other "not so fast" runners running this couse Saturday morning. The ladies I usually run with aren't going to make it this week and I don't want to run alone or be left way behind the group.

Pam, Tim,

I tried the ice bath. I don't think I had enough ice in it though. It was very cold but not freezing. It did feel good though. Thanks for the tip.

It is official. We only did 18mi. Stephen emailed me. Sure felt like alot longer. The last mile was pretty pathetic!

Pam, I'm confused. My schedule you gave me calls for 6 for Tues. Are we switching with the next week? Let me know. Either is fine.

Yes, we are switching the 10 and the 6 because of your 1/2 marathon and our 17 on Sat. Anyone interested in running the IDOT trail on Tuesday night at 5:30 is more than welcome to join us. It's probably going to be warm so bring plenty of fluid. Maybe we can go to La Fiesta afterwards. Isn't it $1.99 night? I'm going to be so tired of margarita's before it's all over with.

Pamela

Hey, Tim and Wendy how did your race go? It was such an awesome day.

Pam:

Our race is not until Sunday morning...8:00 a.m. actually, which will seem like we are starting REALLY late! We'll let everyone know how it goes.

How was today's run? Did everyone make it through OK?

And thanks to everyone for taking care of the water/gatorade!

Everyone that I talked to ran a lot better than last week. It was nice and cool, perfect day for a run! It didn't seem like anyone had any problems out there.

Hey, Russ, Tim Mu., Stephen, Steve O and Kim, we are going to have to take a vote on color. Bright green (very bright, good to see each other in the marathon) or royal blue (nice solid color). Those are the only colors that RaceReady.com has for both men and woman. So tell me your color choice and we will order from there. They are at a great price only $19.99 per shirt. I want to hurry so we can get our names on the shirts also.

Pam - either color is fine with me. Slight preference for the green for the high-vis.

See you Tuesday night.

Go Tim! Go Wendy!

Okay, high-vis. won! I just bought my shirt on raceready.com. The color of the shirt is lime. Hurry and buy yours so we can get the logo and name put on it. I would like to wear mine for the last long run we have so I know how it feels.
