Half Wits Route for Saturday 8/11

Our Fall for the Half Wits crew has 11 miles scheduled for this Saturday. We'll again meet at the Old State Capitol plaza, 6:30 a.m. this Saturday. We have a nice route around the Capitol, up to Oak Ridge Cemetery, through Lincoln Park and Indian Hills on the northend, then back to downtown. We have stops at some parks with water fountains and I'll have Gatorade at a few stops.

Even if you did not join us last week, feel free to join us for this run!

Click here for the map of this week's route.

If anyone is looking to run this at an easy 11:30 to 12 minute pace, Nancy, Barb and I are planning to give it a whirl.

Hi everyone, our group has a change of plans for running the 20 miler this Sat. We were originally going to run 20 from Panera but since we liked running with the group so much we decided to incorporate part of the 20 miler with the group. We plan on meeting downtown at 6:00 to run three miles, then join the halfwits group at 6:30 for 11 miles, then add 6 more miles, running to Bunn and back. It should be 20 miles, give or take. Russ is going to see how far it is using the route map. Hopefully, it will be close to 20. Anyone is welcome to join us for the extra miles.

....and if there are any early risers - there is a group of us (Chuck B's gaggle of women) leaving Washington Park at 5:15 (uh, that's a.m.) to run 6.5 and hook up with the halfwits downtown at 6:30. I'll be getting in another mile and a half afterwards (and hopefully a ride back to my car) for a total of 18 for the day.

And, I forgot to add:

Muscles tired? Need a way to relax after a long week of training? Midwest Technical Institute (behind the northend Lowe's and WalMart) is offering $20 full-body hour long massages. Students, under the supervision of licensed massage therapists, have to complete many practicum hours and this is one service they offer. The sessions are typically on Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. (it's worth the couple hours off of work, believe me....)

One of my dearest friends runs the Massage Therapy school and I highly recommend this to you. Appointments are required and if you have a specific muscle ache or area that needs to be worked on, let her know - otherwise, just plan to relax for an hour!

For details, call:

I don't know what my bro is talking about "a gaggle of women". Who is HE to say that?!?!? Everyone knows I am one to NOT gaggle! I KNOW YOU ALL would agree right??? Heh! Heh! Heh!

(No comments from the Barry/peanut gallary!)

I too, resemble, I mean resent the word gaggle. We are just a group of ladies(and one stud) trying to solve the problems of the world, while enjoying the stifling heat, I mean the crisp air of a summer's morn.--Oh, who am I kidding, it is going to be hot, and we will probably bi___ the whole way, right gagglers, I mean girls.--hee, hee.

See you all tomorrow.

On an unrelated note~Does anyone know Bridgette Cutler's new work number or name of their new business?

Anonymous, Beej's new business is Physio Therapy on Greenbriar. She is partners with Leah Boentes-Hulcher. Can't find her number/card, but I am sure you can find it in the phone book or information. :)

Forgot to add after the gaggler "group/flock" comment to wish Tim Mullady and Carl Benton the best of luck this weekend at the 8 hour run, Howl at the Moon in Danville. You two are so awesome!!!Tim Mu said in a earlier post a couple months ago about us being HARD CORE??? Uhhhh...running 40-50+ miles for 8 hours is what I call HARD CORE! Our run this weekend will be your warm up!!! :)

Go Tim Mu and Carl!!!! :):):)

Kari,
Oh I had a gaggle(7), but on the way downtown bathroom breaks were in order and its hard to keep them all together when they all have to go - LOL

Yes; Chuck definitely had his gaggle of women with him yesterday. But, he is right. Nature was calling, and you know women can't go to the bathroom by themselves. By the time we reached downtown, the half wits had already started. So, we had to catch up. It was so nice to see everyone out there yesterday. Not too hot. A good run.

Sorry to hear that it was so hot for the Sat. morning runners. THE HOWL AT THE MOON was perfect, temp was in the high 50s,wonderful breeze and a couple of breif rain showers. WHOOO here I guess running/lots of walking, in the sun in 90 degrees does make one Deeluzzinal!! Three of us from Springfield were at THE HOWL, Carl, Roger, and me. It was HOTTT!!! Roger and Carl both finished in the early to mid 40s and I did 34.9(same as last year). I hate to admitt it but all three of us will try to do it again next year. I have a couple of pictures us us at the end, if I knew some way to get them on this blog I would post them.

Great job guys!! We did 20 Sat. and thought that was good. Nothing compared to what you big dogs accomplished. Now that it is over, lets hook up for some runs. We have a 21 miler the 25th. You can run a portion if your legs feel up to it. Check the blog.

Tim, Roger and Carl, awesome job! It was a hot one yesterday. Tim, make sure you take your ice bath and rest up for the next two weeks because we're going to need you on the 21/22 miler in two weeks.

If anyone is interested, a couple of us are going to run 12 miles on Thursday morning from the FitClub south at 6:00 a.m. We'll go towards the trail 6 miles and then come back. Bring your fuelbelts!

Rich, if you are out there, I hope your surgery went well and you have a fast recovery. Can't wait to see ya running again!
