So what are your plans for the next 3 months?

Springfield runners are motivated individuals. In the next 3 months runners of all levels will be competing in various long distance disciplines. It could be a Triathlon, Ultra Marathon, Marathon, Half Marathon, or Muddy Buddy. With all the upcoming races, it would be great to get a roll call to find out what the Springfield athletes are doing. This could be helpful to know someone locally is doing the same race. Maybe with this information, you can even find training partners, lodging information or even to get you to commit.

So what race are you doing?

BTW, there are various groups training for the Chicago Marathon. If you don't have lodging, don't worry. The Courtyard by Marriott in Oakbrook Terrace, IL is holding 20 rooms for members of the Springfield Running Club during the Chicago Marathon weekend. These rooms are available at $94.00 per night. Members of the Springfield Running community have stayed at this hotel in previous years. It's clean, quiet and easy access to downtown Chicago (20 min. away). For anyone that is interested, they can call 800-321-2211, and mention the Springfield Running Club block of rooms & the $94 rate. The rooms being held are for Sat & Sun nights (Oct. 6 & 7). If anyone has any questions, they can contact Fred Alves at home: 483-7267 or send him an e-mail: gabmw@insightbb.com or can call him at work: 757-8670 ext. 2462.

I know there is a big Springfield contingent doing Lewis and Clark Marathon/Half Marathon. Where is everyone staying?

I'm staying at Country Inn & Suites. I think the cost was $100 or less. Can't remember. Also this hotel is very close to the finish line. The morning of they take you to the race.

We are staying at the Courtyard in Oakbrook terrace also. Very nice hotel. We stayed there in 05. Although it is out of the downtown area, we did not have any problem getting downtown and parking the day of the race. Since I was very tired and couldn't walk very far, or very well after the marathon, it didn't really matter that we were not downtown. We would recommend it to any of you still looking for a room.

St. Charles: Troy doing the full marathon, I'm doing the half. Staying? I'm not sure, maybe with a friend's family?

Chicago: I'm running it with Troy as my crew chief. Staying in Oak Park (my kid goes to school two blocks away) with Karen/Rob, Debby/Bill, Ali/Michelle. We were able to arrange a B & B for the whole weekend at a great price and it's a few blocks to to the L. I'm pretty sure we'll hit the post race party.

Looking forward to being with all the SRRC runners!
