It was a great day for a race in St. Louis...sunny and cool, but not too cool.
We had a great crowd head down for the race (there's just a few in the pic above). You can visit the St. Louis Marathon website for results.
Wendy and I had a lot of fun running the relay. Since I had only run the half there in the past, it was cool for me to run the third leg of the relay to see a good portion of the second half of the marathon course.

Congratulations Everyone,
The results look great! Emily, Kim and Carl trained and finished together. The relay team seems like a great way to experience the course. You had perfect weather. Hope everyone had a great time !!!

Emily,Kim,and Carl; GREAT JOB. Now take it easy for a few days, and then start gitten ready for the next one . Tim Mu
Thank you so much!!! :):):)
It was a perfect day to run, but a very challenging course. I started my muscle cramps at mile 6, and went downhill from there. I stopped MANY times and started to really struggle before I even got to mile 9. I could physically feel my hams, quads and calves curl up in a ball all at the same time.
Thanks to Carl and EVERYONE else, I never gave up and yes Barry, kept it strong. :)
At first I was very discouraged, and was almost crying at the finish line. But later on when I saw how well everyone else did, I looked at the big picture and stopped having a pity party of one and realized this is NOT about me~~~ THIS is about ALL OF US!!
If it was not for this group, I would not have had the courage to finish. This group really is wonderful. Everyone cares for everyone and is so proud that you "just finished". One could have finished in 8 hours and this group would still be excited!
I have to say, we are all a bunch of great freinds in this running community. I am soooooo thankful and so grateful that I can't thank God enough for allowing me to be a part of this!
(Yeah Yeah Yeah, I have tears in my eyes~~~~ again!!! I'm so emotional!!!)
Great Job Everyone!!!! Way to "Keep it strong!!!"
Thanks for all the cheers and support while running! Joy you did an awesome job! 3:21 wow. You rock girlfriend. I wish I could have seen you at the finish but by the time I strolled in, you were probably already showered and changed. You have to be so excited for you first! Thanks Carl for all your encouragement and keeping it positive and strong at the last 5 miles. You made the end of the race bearable and was glad to have someone to talk. I lost my pacer half way through and ran the race alone. It was great to finish with Em and Carl. And yes - I did do a shot of beer at the 25mi. Somethings never change. Thanks all for making my first a great and fun experience!

Joy - I was there waiting on my relay team and saw you charge the finish line - you're awesome! Boston bound? Wow - so cool!
Emily - I know the Soprano's were more important last night and we had to cut short our 1/2 hour phone call - but remember that one finish line clock does NOT take away five months of training! Yeah, that whole group thing - that's why we all do this. You had it in you to "just" finish ("just"? oh, whatever!) - otherwise you woulda quit at the first sign of pain - you're one tough cookie. You can't quit - we've gots lots of running to do this summer!
Kim - I'm glad that you did so well, especially after sitting out Chicago - how cool that you finished so strong!
And the rest of us - dang, it was fun! My favorite? Starting out headed toward the arch with the sun coming up over the American flag blowing in the breeze...and....the lone bagpiper at the brewery playing the Marine Corps Hymn....and seeing and cheering on all kinds of people - young old whatever, finish the half marathon while the marathoners came screaming by...and running hand in hand in hand in hand with Karen, Rob, Troy towards the finish line (Karen and I had to run really really fast, 'cause the guys weren't slowing down and if we tripped, they woulda just dragged us accross the finish line! And they said we were going to do this "just for fun"....)
The relay seems to have been so much fun! Maybe next year, I'll do a relay?

Joy, GREAT job! I think you, Tim Marker and Steve Perbix (his 2nd) will be riding the same plane to Boston! (Tim, you must have had Debi train you!!!) Great job Deb! How do you make things look so easy?
I still can't believe how many people came to run from tthe Spfld area, let alone all of the family and friends that came to watch. This really is a close running community!
Great job to all in St. Louis. It was so fun to see all of those familiar faces. Great course. Very challenging. I had lots of knee problems on Sun. Running 2 1/2 marathons, two weeks apart. Probably not too wise. But, I figured I had to have something to do while my husband ran the full marathon. Tim-- 3:05.58. I am sooo proud of him. I hope when we head back to Boston the weather will be a little more forgiving. Awesome job Ali!!-- We would definitley go back to St. Louis.
Kudos to Emily and Kim!! You girls did a great job.
Debi
Great job to all of you!!!
Regarding the teams, Nancy Sutzer deserves special recognition; she ran two legs of the relay since I'm on the injury roster right now. I'm pretty sure she won't do THAT again!

I luxuriated in the tub, moisturizing and scenting my body, all the long while, planning to kidnap my husband and lock my son inthe cellar for the remainder. Going into Cliffords sixth year, I stopped wearing bras.
