Well, I didn't run but I thought everyone did great! Not that PR's are everything but I be there were a lot out there. (I know it's not all about the running, it's about the people you meet along the way, yada, yada, yada :).

I know Barry kept it strong :).

I talked to some first timers that were very happy with their first half and can't wait until next year.

After telling everyone to try for an even pace, after hearing everyone tell ME to try for an even pace, I went out too fast in the first two miles and slowed down steadily after that. According to the splits function on my watch, I ran the last mile in over an hour. LOL!

It was truly a fun event. The thing that hit me was how much fun ALL the volunteers seem to be having--lotsa smiles at all the water stops. They did a great job!

Traffic control was also fantastic. I had assumed that we'd be playing "dodge car" at some intersections but it never happened.

All in all, two of the most fun hours I've had in quite a while!

All I know is that you all looked good running out of Lincoln Park up that last hill. It was cool having a half-marathon going right by the house. After Tim heading out at 3:30a and the chip timing guys leaving at 5a, I fell back to sleep and didn't awake until 9:30a when I heard whooping outside. It's the Northend so you never know ... but it was a dude running past in a speedo with a British flag design.

Barry - I didn't know you were a Brit! Blimey.

Usually I refrain from whooping but couldn't help myself.

Just wanted to chime in to all that completed the Half Marathon. I was so envious to see you all running. A big congratulations.

Welcome to a special club of runners. You have earned it. Also, for all the volunteers out there...Kudos to you too. I heard the experience went really well.

All I can say is WOW! What a sense of accomplishment to cross the finish line even with more walking breaks than I intended!!..oh well, something to shoot for next time!!

First attempt at the half and I was just happy to finish and be a part of it..

This was my longest run ever!!

Thanks for a great event!!

Great job to all of you first timers to complete a half! You guys are great. Well done and start thinking about your next challenge!

Tim - great course, wonderful weather (go ahead, take credit). A very well run and put together outing. I think this is the type of race that can really take off. I look forward to next years run.

Everything about this race was great! I loved the new course, and the volunteers with their smiling faces and cheers made each mile go by a little easier...
I'm looking forward to next year!!

The new course was very challenging. I was on pace to break my PR by about 3 minutes until the 12th mile where my lower back, shoulders and quads cramped, got a stitch on my right side and got a blister on my left big toe. I think the blister is what finally did me in and it took me 12 mintues and 44 seconds to cover mile 12. I was able to recover the last mile and still run faster than I did last year. Then on Sunday I spiked a 102.6 degree fever and ended up getting diagnosed with bronchitis. I think I'm done running anything longer than a 10k.

I traveled down from the west suburbs of Chicago with some friends of mine and we loved your race. I am the race director for the Great Western half marathon in St Charles, IL and have directed or assisted with several other races. We also like to travel and run races in different states but this one is a keeper right here in Illinois. Everything about the race was first class, even the weatherman who threatened, couldn't keep you guys from doing a great job. I will certainly help spread the word and maybe bring some more runners next year. Winston Rasmussen, President, Fox River Trail Runners.
