We will run much of the LM course on Saturday. I'll have water on the bench by the Park Street entrance to Washington Park; at Perry Broughton on Lincoln Avenue; and at the Nelson Center Parking Lot Shelter.
Fast girl is running with me on Tuesdays saying things like come on let's go faster. Hate to tell her, I'm at top end and 30 years older. Tuesday, she kept saying I wish Chris was here so I could have someone to run with. Boy, I wish Chris was there also! She kicks everybodies butt.
I'm not upset that Pam is demanding and wants everything her way.
I'm not mad that the fast girl can run faster than me. It doesn't bother me that I am 47 and my fastest years are behind me. Who cares that I could've been a contender and wasted it my youth. Now there are all of those young punks who are faster than me. They don't care that I could have beat them 15 years ago. Who cares that now I do long slow runs because I'm not fast enough to compete.
Angry, I'M NOT ANGRY!!!
I'm a very happy person.
Maybe I am angry about one thing. People who post and don't say who they are.
I like that we coined her name as Fast Girl. I like that. I wonder if she likes that...but who cares, its better that saying, oh that Fast Mother F$%#$#! Girl. ha ha. Just kidding. Its nice to have new blood in the running groups. I just hope we dont bore her.
Sorry, I didnt make it tonight. But I will be there Sat.
It was a small group tonight but a tough group! I ran 5 and then drove to Xoch to make sure the margaritas were still frozen. See ya on Sat. hope we all do well.
HAHAHA. That posting about "fast girl" cracked me up. She always likes to run along side me, and the whole time she is telling me we need to run faster. :) I dont think she realizes I have 10 years more on her and a lot of pizza and beer from college still in my stomach. But I agree it's good to have some new blood around.
This Sat, I plan on running only 10 as I know I am not ready to jump to 12 yet. I have missed some long runs, so I plan on starting the run with ya then cut over at 6th and Capitol approx, the 2 mile marker, and finish the run from that point on.
It was my official 1st run back a couple weeks ago after running the Mardi Gras Marathon on Feb. 1st. It was the week that was scheduled to run only 6 miles. (It was also Debi Marker's birthday!) Pam kept saying how she hopes she can keep up with me~
Was she smoking crack that morning???
Too stay with her, I had to run an 8 minute pace!!! Way too fast for me!!! Next thing I knew after I picked up my protrunding guts, she started to get faster, and faster, and faster!!!! She ran so far ahead of me that I LOST her!
Are you SURE you were injured for awhile PAMELA??!!
Me again. Last question. I promise : ) What is a good time for a 5k if it is your first one? Any advice about running a 5k? Thanks again for all the advice! Sarah
Now that would be if you were an olympic caliber athlete and doing your first 5K. For the average Joe (or Sarah in your case) it would depend on your fitness level and how you have trained leading up to the 5K.
My honest answer is do one, don't worry about the time, it doesn't matter. This will set your bench mark to beat the next time. Enjoy all of the race suuroundings for your first one and don't worry about time. It's more important to get a feel for doing a race and running with all of those runners. My advice is to start out easy and pick up the pace finishing hard the last 1/2 mile (full out). Don't get caught up in the faster runners pace.

Roger why are you so angry?
Angry!(?)

Some of us "less fast" runners are meeting at Lincoln park on Sunday morning at 8. We will run over to Oak Ridge Cemetery and run the octopus.

A 17:00 5K would be a real good first try.
Now that would be if you were an olympic caliber athlete and doing your first 5K. For the average Joe (or Sarah in your case) it would depend on your fitness level and how you have trained leading up to the 5K.
