Hey, I'm running the race and am interested about all these "hills" comments. How bad are they? Since I won't see the course until race day, can someone tell me what miles to expect them on, and how bad they are (mild, moderate, severe, insane)?
Well I ran that part of the course today and it is mile 10,11 and 12which have the most of hills. They are not to bad but I call that part of the race crunch time. You can call them moderate. There is a small hill arround mile 8 going out of washinton park I would call that one mild. Well best of luck Monty
Actually, the hills are from Mile 6 on. The first part is pretty flat but make sure you conserve for the last half of the race. I'd say there are 5 nice hills with some little inclines at other parts. It is a GREAT course and the 2nd part is definately challenging.
Here is a link to final version of the 2007 course. To my knowledge, it hasn't changed. http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=112211
Well let me break it down a bit. Right before mile 4 there is a small hill.Right before mile 6 you go down a large hill. Right when u turn on Lincoln there is a large hill but levle out a bit. There is a good size hill right before mile 8.The 2 loop up in the cemtry is a large hill.half way on black ave there is a hill that goes for about 200 meters. In as you are leaving Lincoln park there is a large hill you go down and then there is a hill that goes up right before you get onto 4th street. Right before mile 12 from there its flat till the finsh. If I miss something I let you know because I am running the course on thurs and fri of this week. Well if someone want to join me email at montyflynn@hotmail.com. I will start at 9am till completion. The cousre is already marked. I ran parts of it yesterday and today. I cant wait til race day see ya all at the race. Monty
