As of today there is only 39 days left before the start of the Chicago Marathon. Please use this post for September to inform others about your upcoming training runs and share your trials and triumphs.
Good luck to everyone who is training and I will see you in Chicago as a volunteer.

I've seriously neglected this blog for no reason other than I haven't made

Hey "Other guy", when are you running? Are you running on Thursday? or are you talking about Saturday? We are running on Thursday if you would like to join us. Take the day off of work, you only live once so keep the weekends for having fun in the sun or rain, lol.
Pamela
This weekend we are planning on running 17 or 18 miles. We are saving our 20 miler for the 20th of September since our marathon is Oct. 19th. Just in case anyone is interested in doing another long run.
Pam, We folks that work for "for profit" companys can't take days off in the middle of the week to do our long runs. Also if you and Kim are doing the VIP tent in Chicago count me in.
Tim Mu
I am scheduled to run a 8 miler run this weekend. I am winding it down for St Charles marathon the following weekend. Good luck on your long run.

Cindy, we are planning our last 20 miler on the 20th, we will join you.
Tim, talk to the boss and ask him if you can make the "profit" on Friday instead of Thursday. We need you for our long run. It is going to be cool with a little shower to cool us off. You're going to miss Kim and I singing in the rain, lol.
Our tent for Chicago is going to be Tim Mu., Kim and I. We need three more people to join us. Anyone interested? Come on guys, this is a great meeting place that we all talk about the run afterwards over beers and massages. Mary F. and Janet Powell, are you out there?
Cary and Gary, Good luck in St. Charles running your marathon. You both will do great!
Did I miss anything?
Pamela
Pam and the rest of the Chicago gang~ Lisa Wycoff and I will be going to Chicago as cheerleaders! I'm so excited and can't wait! Good luck Cary and Gary at St. Charles. It is such a beautiful race!
Hey Cindy, has anyone told you how AWESOME you are??? :)
Also, I have finally downloaded my Abe's Pictures. There are over 400 pics to look at. If you finished in 55 mins and after, chances are I got you coming into the finish line. Copy and paste the link below. :)

Tim, you missed a very good run! We ran 20.5 and felt great! Ran in the rain the whole time and loved it. I hope you will make the 21/22 run with us in two weeks.
Emily, Glad to hear you and Lisa are going to be a cheerleaders for Chicago. You need to tell us where you are going to be so we can look for you. I will need all the help I can get. Everyone else is doing awesome.
Hey, we still need three more people for our tent for Chicago!!!!!!
Pamela
Pam & Kim, Glad to hear your run went well, I didn't have nearly as much fun unloading furniture in the rain all day. Your 22 miler in two weeks is the same week that Sharon and I are in Louisville working at the Ryder Cup golf tournament. Maybe we can do our runs that day(20th)via cell phone. What are the miles for next weekend? The weather should be good for this Sat.;I'm planning to do a 3 hour run. Time limits work better for me than a set mileage total.
Tim Mu
Tim, Next weekend we are doing 13. I hope to do it on Thursday, yes, I'm taking another vacation day. Hey, I'm taking two more vacation days then I'm back to Sat. long runs. Good luck this weekend on your 3 hour run. I'm glad mine is over! Have fun in Louisville.
Oh, and our color for the marathon is red so you can wear your race ready red shirt. Kim and I both bought ours from Race Ready so we can all match for the pictures, how cute we will all look, lol.
Maybe we can run our 15 miler together the week after our 22 miler. You better show up or the next time we will see you is marathon day. Hope we can recognize you, lol.
Pamela
Kim & Pam:
I have been down in Clearwater this week and have been running in the heat. It was tough especially over the bridge. Janet and I are running the Polka race Saturday and planning on doing 21 on Sunday.
What do we need to do to do the tent in Chicago with you guys?
Mary F.
Anyone planning on running the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington on 10/26? I'm running it with my son Bryan. We'll be running the St. Charles MO half Marathon on Sept 14th as a tune up.
Charlie R.
Hey Charlie... Not running the Marine Corps marathon but will be in St. Charles running the Half.
Lance C.
My brother and I are running the Marine Corps. If you are interested in training days let me know.

Mary and Tim Mu, it seems as though we can't find 6 people to join the hospitality tent as a group. We can all sign up as individuals under "Chicagomarathon.com" look down on the page and it says "Latest News" click on "Race day hospitality is now available" then click "runner hospitality" I will do this tent no matter what because I really like the private porta potties and place to store my bag without fighting with the general public. The general public lines are so long and I just don't want to deal with it. Would love for everyone to join the tent, it's $75.00 and I think it's well worth it. If you don't want to join, that's fine too. It's just sort of nice to get together before and after the race.
Mary, are you doing your 22 miler with the group on the 20th? If so, I will join you and Janet for your run. I can't wait because after that it's taper time! How did you do in the Polka race? and how did your 21 miler go the next day? Hope to see ya on the 20th and anyone else running their last 20 miler that day. Tim, I know you are out, have fun. Oh, how did your 3 hour fun go?
Hope all is well with everyone :)
Pamela
Didn't get a chance to read the blog last week. We are planning that 20 miler on the 20th and considering a "Club to Club" run. This one goes from Panera West to Fit Club South, North, and West (wish this would earn us a discount on our monthly dues!). Anyway, just let us know if you'd like to join us and we'll plan for more drinks. Thanks Emily, for your kind comment. We're heading to St. Charles this weekend...just doing the half but wish Marie luck...she's going for the full!
Cindy
This is my first Marathon. Is anyone doing a long run on the 27 or is that to late to do a long run? Is the hospitality tent at the end worth it? Any advise would be great!

Good luck Kari!! You will do awesome! Just pace yourself like the day we all ran. You finished strong! And remember... Just have fun! Thats what it is all about. If you have access to computer up there - be sure and blog your results.
Pam - I received an email that there is a group running
Sat. morn. 11.2 Greenbriar/Panther Creek connection if your wanting to run with a group. I know our schedule calls for 10 so it fits in. I would forward but I think your email is still broken ??
Stay dry... It is soccer mania weekend for me with Ridge. Tourn. all weekend. Should be a mud bath.
Kim :)
Lym,
Normally, you do your last long run for a marathon, three weeks before the race. You usually want to give yourself a three week break off of runs over 20 miles. The Hal Higdon program does 20 then 12 then 8, leading up to the marathon. Every program is different so I can't tell you it's totally wrong to do and I'm not an expert. I've heard of people doing 20, 15 then 10 but not 20 two weeks before a marathon.
I think the tent is worth it but others may not so it's a personal preference.
Pamela
What time is the 20 mile group leaving from Panera West on Sept 20?
Gary W
Pam, What is the plan for tomorrow Sat. 9-27. Are you running or did you do it during the week? If you are running Sat. let me know what time and from where.
Tim Mu
Tim, I didn't see you down here! Darn it!! I could have ran with you. What are you doing next week? I'm just down for 8 so I don't know where I'm running from or when. Did you have someone to run with this past Sat.? I feel bad that I missed your blog.
Are you going to run with a pace group during the marathon? If so, which one? I don't know what pace to run, yikes!!!!
Pam, Started Sat. run by myself, ran the trail(yikes) got to the rr tracks and headed back, ran into Rick N. about half mile after turning and ran back to Panera. Didn't get as many miles as I wanted, had to be in Virden for grandaughters soccer games. This Sat. 4th I have to be in Chicago for a drivers meeting. I have never ran with a pacing group, but this time I have decided to give it a try. I am thinking the 3:55 group is what I'll go with. That is 9 minute miles and I've been trying to maintane that pace on my long runs. What is the plan or is there one for dinner the night before the marathon?
Tim Mu
Hey Pam, Good news, the meeting in Chicago for this Sat. has been cancelled. So if you run on Sat. morning I will be able to make it. Let me know what time and from where.
Tim Mu
Tim, you are too fast for me! I'm on the schedule for 8 miles this Sat. If we run together, you will kick my butt! There are two groups that run on Sat. so I'll see what they are running and maybe we can join them. You can run up ahead with the fast people and leave me behind :). I'll let you know as soon as I find out the route and time.
P.S. Tim, you ran the trail??? Of all things, we hate the trail! Of course you saw Rick on the trail, that's all he runs. He says it's a mental thing, lol.
Tim, we are running from Cardinal Fitness at 7:00 a.m. doing about 8 miles. You are more than welcome to run with us :).
Tim Mu, Sent you an email.
Kim :(
