Great day for a run!

What a great crowd for today's Half Wits seven mile run! And given Sunday's forecast, we lucked out with some great weather.
After seeing today's crowd and with a couple long runs under our belts, I hope all our new Half Wits see how the group dynamic can really help us all train for the half marathon. When we know all these people will be out there for our runs, and that we'll have plenty of folks around to get us through the miles, it makes it much easier. And good weather helps!
So, let's hear what some of our new Half Wits have to say? Or if any of our veterans have any suggestions or comments, please share!

I thought the weather was great and the run was perfect. Met some new Halfwits and talked to some old ones too. It's a great group.

I will miss the hills on Tuesday because I will be at a wake in Chicago so I will see everyone Thursday night.

Have fun,
Pamela

The weather was FANTASTIC! Good job, Tim.

Did anyone see ALL THOSE FROST TOES who showed up and took over the course? Great job!

Special congrats goes to Carl and Bob for running the course three times Saturday morning!

I am new to the Halfwits and after my near wimp out last week the increase in distance worried me. However, I rose to the occasion and finished with what was a decent time for me. Legs are a little sore today, but it's a good sore. Tim, can you order just as nice a day for next Saturday's run?

It was an amazing day overall. I've spent the past 9 months running and training by myself and I don't think I'll ever do it again. In the past 2 weeks, I have met some really nice people. This weeks run was by far my best. When you are able to talk to people and share stories while you're running, time flies. I was about 40 seconds per mile faster than my normal long runs.

Thanks to Tim for all his planning that goes into the Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday runs.

From what I have witnessed after 2 weeks, Springfield is very fortunate to have a bunch of "Half Wits" in its running community.

See you all next week.

Thank you Wendy and Tim for the water and energy drinks! What was that new drink called? It was yummy!

Accelerade is the drink. They will be supply it for the Lincoln Memorial, as well as supplying their gel--Accel Gel--and their recovery drink--Endurox--for the race.

You can purchase all of these products at Biketek. Also, Acclerade in bottles is available at many places where other sport drinks are sold (I know it is at Target).

Thanks go to Bob Thompson at Biketek for securing Accelerade's involvement with the LM!
