Route for Sat. 9/8...and looking for volunteers

This Saturday is our last training run for the Fall for the Half Wits in advance of the Lewis & Clark Half Marathon on 9/16. That went by quick, didn't it?

As this is our "taper" week, we'll only be running seven miles on Saturday. The route for this week will take us west past the Capitol then south into Washington Park, back east to Iles Park and then north back to the start. As always, we'll meet at 6:30 a.m. on the south side of the Old State Capitol Plaza.

Click here for the link to a map of this Saturday's route!

As I'll be in West Lafayette Saturday cheering on the EIU Panthers as they tussle with Purdue, we are again looking for someone to put out Gatorade if possible. I included two water stops on this route (Washington Park shelter and Iles Park). Y'all did such a good job organizing it last week that I know you will do great this week!

I'll be posting more info over the next week in regard to the Lewis & Clark, so stay tuned to the blog!

If you're Kilometer challanged like I was in viewing the route link, look at the top right corner and you will see options on how to change it to MILES.

All, I know is what a 5k and 10k...anything else Im lost. Im not good at converting.

Is anyone planning on more mileage for Sat. a.m.? I need to get to the Lanphier Invite by 9 a.m., but other than that could start earlier and run longer up till then.

Sorry to miss the last group run but will be in Chicago running the half on Sunday. Should be fun!!

On another note: My daugther is selling magazines for school fundraiser and Runner's World can be bought for $20.00 yr. issue instead of $54.00 cover. Any interest shoot me an email: knoonan@insightbb.com

Sorry for the solicitation, but it is running related and a good deal!

lol, that's funny Kim. Sign me up baby! Do they have a special on two years. I'll take that if they have it.

Good Luck in Chicago Kim. It's going to be nice so you can go for the gusto!

Anyone interested in running 16 miles, we are meeting this Sat. at 6:00 a.m. at Panera. Tim Mu. said he will think of a route that will take us way out west and then loop back somewhere. Tim stated there is a porta potty on the way so just in case. Tim Mu.did you find a route? Or do you need Russ to help you map one out?

Hey Pam,

I think it is for only one yr. but the school does the fundraiser every yr. I will fill out the form and get a check when we run next.

I am looking forward to going to Chi-town. Sushi, Italian & Mexican all in that order. YUM

I plan on being at Panera at 6am to run 16. I hope to see everyone else because it is finally going to be a cool morning. Tim Mu, Pam, Stephen SteveO bring your shirts tomorrow and I can take them to be screen printed next week. If anybody else who is running Chicago would like their shirts printed bring them. We are putting our names on the front and Chicago Marathon with 26.2 and the date on back.

Tim Mu., Great route!! Say thanks to your secretary for helping you out. It was nice to do something different and see the growth out west. Glad the weather was awesome, hopefully next Saturday will be the same, if not better.

Kim, how was Chicago?

Chuck, Emily and John, Good luck running St. Charles. The weather will be great and you'll do awesome. Keep us posted on your race.

GREAT PICNIC, thanks to Barb, Em and other volunteers. Chuck and Em's Dad did a great job as DJ; and- Wow can he sing!. We all enjoyed him singing the Elvis songs!! Sounded just like the King. We need to bring him back every year!!!I especially liked Jim's singing, next year we need some more members to step up for the kareoke.!!! Carl how about it; maybe we could talk Barry into singing?
Thanks Barb for the caramel apples, a good healthy snack for the runners. Carl, just how many pieces of chicken did you eat???
I know just filling up on protein. You and Joy earned it with your great efforts and good results at the Polka race that morning.
Overall a good relaxing social event for members of the club to talk and socialize. Thanks again to Barb B.

As mentioned in the other post below, Barb~~ you really really did an awesome job!

Thanks Pam for the encouragement. It'll be a great time, and so glad there will be a lot of us there together! Wish the rest of yas could be there too! But know you will be in spirit! :)

Anonymous, thank you so much on the compliments on my Dad. He will so love to read your post as it will touch him!! He loves to sing; especially Elvis, oh and Johnny Cash! In regards to his voice, he had commented afterwards to others with his strong filipino accent, "Just don't look at me, but please hear my voice". He is so cute~~~ :)

Funny story about him. His name is Javier, but his "american" name is "Ted". When him and my mom were just newlyweds, they were very poor and had no money to buy food. My dad entered an Elvis contest and sang "Teddy Bear". Needless to say he won. :) With the 1st place prize money he was able to buy a bag of rice to last them for a week. So there you go~~~ "Ted", aka the filipino Elvis. :):):):)
