Lewis & Clark...the VERY important info!

Every race is different. The weather, the course, the crowd, how you feel that day, how much you have trained, what you ate the night before, where your head is at that day...all these things come together to determine how you run on race day.

But just remember to live in the moment. The Lewis & Clark this Sunday is not Indy from two years ago and it is not the Lincoln Memorial of next year. It's the 2007 L & C...nothing more, nothing less...but it is all still in front of you to experience! Have fun, enjoy the friendship of your fellow Half Wits, take in the whole atmosphere of the race, and just believe that this is the place you are supposed to be at this moment! And don't forget to say thanks to the cops and the volunteers!!

The MOST important item, though, is getting together with your fellow SRRC runners after the race to share our stories. The race directors said we can set up camp to the north of the finish area (near Lewis & Clark statue in Frontier Park). Click here to see a map of the finish area. We'll be set up to the left (north) of the Lewis & Clark statue. Be on the lookout for a green pop-up shelter with the Life is Good runner guy banner hanging from it! The Half Wits will be hanging out there! Once I finish the race I plan to head back to our hotel (only 1/3 of a mile down the Katy Trail) and load up the famous party cart with some essentials then head back to our post-race area to set up camp!
Since participants are being asked to park at the start area and then be shuttled back to their cars after the race, it may be a little tough to get your beverage of choice to the Half Wits tent, but we'll be hanging out there for a while. If you have family or friends meeting you at the finish, then by all means have them drag the cooler to the Half Wits shelter for you.
Please feel free to post in comments if you have a question about the post-race or if you have any suggestions!
Life is Good!

Tim, thanks so much for putting the tent together for the Half Wits. Knowing that there's a spot to congregate afterwards with friends makes the race experience that much more rewarding, and it sure helps those of us with non-running spouses/significant others who need a rendezvous point.

I cant wait to get this puppy over with. We should have a nice turnout for this event. The weather seems favorable.

Tim,
Are we gonna see the return of the VODKA Lemonade cooler?

Hmmm...you never know what may show up after a race!

Sounds like a plan! Thanks Tim - I'm thinking the bloody mary jug needs to be brought back to life!

See ya'll at the finish line!

Great job everyone of a grueling summer of running - know that you are stronger for it. I like what Tim wrote - take what the day gives ya - nothing more and nothing less. And be so very glad that you have the ability and means to travel and participate in these kinds of events.

It's not the finish line that's important - it's what you do along the way.

Hope to see everyone Sat. night at the dinner rendezvous. Should be fun...if not, have a successful Sunday run!
