Route for Saturday (2/10)

We are on pace for our 9 mile run on Saturday!

I know for many of you this may be the longest that you have ever run, and I also realize this is a week that we make a significant jump (2 miles more than last week)...but this is really where the group dynamic kicks in and helps you slog through the miles. Also, this is a tried and true formula for training for longer races. You need to consistently bump up your miles during your long runs to be ready to run the distance on race day

Next week we cut it back to six miles...which means we will run our famous Arctic Amble. More about that in future posts.

This week's route is similar to what we have run so far. It adds some distance, but it allows for two stops at Fit Club West if you would like to stop. We also incorporate one of the Frostbite course hills into our run...we need to try to get hills in as there are hills on the LM course.

Let me know if you have questions.

Here is a link to the course map (unless we have crazy wind that would call for a more east-west route)...

For the newbies who might be nervous about running 9 miles, please ignore Emily's post.

Just remember that Barry has done this distance. If he can run 9 miles, you can too. Just take it slow and easy.

And Emily can tell us all later how well she did on the 13 miles!

KEEP IT STRONG, Em!

Emily, you know I would follow you anywhere. I would HAVE to follow you 'cause you always run so fast!

This route goes right past where I work. When you pass CMT at the corner of Durkin and Washington Street, be sure to wave at the poor souls who have to work on a Saturday.

Today's run was AWESOME! The temp wasn't too bad, the wind was a challenge but not impossible, and we got to run with a legend.

I don't know who all was responsible for getting Bill Rodgers here, but I thank you all for doing it. It was an absolutely fantastic experience.

And all the Half Wits did a great job of KEEPING IT STRONG!
