Happy St. Patrick's Day!

That's the Butler (aka Kilkenny) Castle in Kilkenny, Ireland. Yes, it is somehow related to my family's history. My father's father came to the U.S. from Kilkenny when he was young. The Butler's have a long history in that area of Ireland, dating back to the 12th Century or so. I have never been to Ireland, but certainly hope to some day.

So, Happy St. Patrick's Day! Have a pint of Guinness--or better yet, Beamish--but don't indulge too much in advance of our big run tomorrow!

I visited Kilkenny Castle last summer when I was in Ireland. It is a very well preserved and impressive piece of Irish history. They would only let us take pictures of the exterior, but I have a few if you ever want to see them. Once you go to Ireland, you'll be forever enchanted. It's well worth the trip.

We saw many glasses being tipped in the Irish pubs. The majority were filled with(or emptied of) Guinness or Bulmers Hard Cider.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

My ancestors also have a castle in Ireland. I'm from the Kerr Clan of Scotland and the Tobins from Ireland. I would love to go there someday. Hey is anyone going out tonight to load up on carbs?
