My apologies to all who showed up Saturday morning for our 12 mile run and were waiting on me. Usually my better half wakes me up before he leaves for the post office on Saturday mornings, but for some reason I didn't hear him. I didn't wake up until I heard my cell phone ringing at 6:10 and Jenni G. was calling to apologize for not being able to run this morning!
So to all who ran the 12 miles - congrats and keep up the good work. Those who ran the Polka Pace Race - congrats and keep up the good work. Those who are suffering injuries - rest up, we've got six weeks to go!
And for those of us lazy bums who didn't get their rear ends out of bed - well, you know what you gotta do - no excuses!
Stay tuned for information about this week's Thursday and Saturday workouts - I'll post more when I get back and cleaned up from Muddy Buddy! We're on Week 13, which is a 4 mile, 9 mile, 5 mile (Thursday), and 18 mile (Saturday) week.

I've seriously neglected this blog for no reason other than I haven't made
the time to sit down and compose something. Which is kind of sad because

Jessica and Debi, so sorry about Saturday's run. I was tempted, believe me. I am in a self-imposed 4 day rest hiatus. As many of you know I have been fighting pain since mid July. Motrin, biofreeze, leg wraps and ice bags have been getting me through. I thought this scale back week would be a good time to try this. If I had known you were going to be there, Deb, I would have come out anyway. I have been wondering what happened to you this summer! I'm sorry to have missed you. Hope you guys had a good run.
Alot of people were out of town doing races this weekend too, and next Saturday, some are doing the Shoreline. We are trying to figure out how we can get in 18-20 in Decatur post-race or move days around to do the long run on another day. Is anyone else running Decatur and have another plan for getting in the long run? I would love to hear suggestions!
Thanks, Deb, for your support. Hey, if you're still looking for company for the long run, would you consider runing the 20 miler with me early next week instead of Saturday? I promised a friend I would pace her during Decatur, so I HAVE to do the race on Saturday, but I agree with Mary, I really don't want to do another 9 that day in Decatur! I know you mentioned company for the 20 miler, and if I do it on another day, I will definately want company too! If you, or anyone else out there, can swing it, I would be glad to provide water along the trail and go sometime early next week. Maybe Mon or Tues?? Anytime of day is fine with me (I like mornings, but I'll do whatever) Any takers? We could run Russ's 20 mile map to Chatham and back.
(Please, please, please??)
AND, here is another idea, if anyone needs to cross train and would be willing to follow me on bike for the 20, I would greatly appreciate it!!! (that is if you don't mind going REALLY SLOWLY)
Hey all you veterans out there...what do you think? Is it not a good idea to mess too much with the schedule this late in the game? I'm trying to ease back into it after 4 days off. Should I try to squeeze in the 20 miler later in the week and then get back into the regular schedule OR forget about the 20 this Saturday, just run the 9, and maybe spread out a majority of the weekly mileage over the week then jump back into it for next Saturday's 14??? HELP!
Hi! Jenni - Hope things are feeling better for you. I few days off usually does help. I was going to run the Shoreline as well, but I know I wouldn't be able to turn around and run another 9 after doing it at race pace. I'm going to stick around and do my long run. I had planned on doing 20 instead of 18. I have been doing less miles since having a problem with my big toe.
I guess as we put on the miles, we'll be talking more about aches and pains too! Aren't we a fun group? What time are you planning on doing your 20? I would love to run with you, but I'm not sure about missing work, may need to try my 20 this weekend.
If you go to Decatur, would you mind picking up my packet? I would hate to miss my t-shirt.
A few of us had discussed trying to push past the 20 mark to 22, so we have been adding a few extra miles to the long runs. I know I can't run 20 by myself, indoors or out. I ran for 2 hrs on the treadmill last winter when the weather was bad and I thought I would go CRAZY!! My only divertion was watching that Olympic shuffleboard event on TV. So, I may have to bow out of Decatur and run with the group instead. Guess I better get started on my "Sorry I'm a Bad Friend Banana Bread"
Hey, Mary F, maybe JB will pick up our shirts for us?? BTW, how was ARUBA?
You beat my treadmill record, I have gone 9 and I think I did go crazy! If you are running 20 this Saturday, count me in. I really want to hit the 22, from the advice I have received from many people this will really help with the mental aspect of the race.
Aruba was beautiful. While on our sunset cruise, we saw a group of people running with a torch around the island. This was the opening of their olympics.
Do you think we can get someone to pick up our packets? Who is JB?
Judy Boutchee. I'll have to try to schmooze her into not only forgiving me for not pacing her, but to also grab our stuff if she can. Better be good bread!!
If you want, we can try the bread first just to make sure it's ok, with our coffee Saturday!! If she would be so kind to do that, that would be great. Do you think she can pick up my husband's packet as well. What should I bake her??
