Don't want to take your mind off the task at hand, but this is just a reminder that we are looking for group leaders for this summer's Abe's Army.
The Army starts the day after Memorial Day. Being a group leader is a great way to give back a little to the running club, while also have a wonderful time helping folks train for Abe's Amble. You will get free entry into the race, the cool Army t-shirt, and the undying devotion of all your "grunts"!
Half Wits Linda Jones and Connie Clark are heading up recruitment of the platoon leaders. If you need more info or a leader registration form (no fee for leaders!), just let me know.

I've seriously neglected this blog for no reason other than I haven't made
the time to sit down and compose something. Which is kind of sad because

Hey Linda and Connie,
I'm mailing my Platton Leader form this morning. Can't wait for those North End training runs in 90-degree heat! OH YEAH!
OH YEAH is right...90 degree heat, hills, and who could forget the evening of the torrential downpour? Good times.
Tim and Wendy - I was driving west on Sangamon Avenue last night bringing my old doggie back from her checkup at the vets and who did I see FLYING UP THE ROAD beneath the viaduct but you two? Way to go!
I don't think flying is the proper term. Shuffling is more like it!
If it wasn't for Connie and Linda getting Helen and me through our first year of running, we'd have quit a long time ago. They are awesome leaders and motivators and Helen and I want to be platoon leaders because of what they do. We've already got our forms filled out!
I nominate my brother Chuck Bernardes. He's a great guy, great motivator, an inspiration, and cool friend. Regardless of the fact that he owes my daughter $10, he would be a GREAT Abe's Army leader!! What do ya say Charlos? :)
Dang it Emily...Why did I think you were going to say something like this? Don't you know, I am under the (WPP) Witness Protection Program?
BTW,$10.00? I owe nobody. You had to bring it up in this forum? Oh, I am sure I can win this argument.
Uh...I wasnt here posting.
Hey Chuck - - -
The challenge is ON! I'll do if you will.....
Let us all know:)
Chuck,
I must confess. I came up with a new meaning of the word "Chuck" You see, I was running with a couple of friends Monday afternoon. If you recall, it was Cold, Raining and Windy. Well, I usually wear a ballcap when if rains, but new it would blow off with the wind. So, since it was cold, I put my headband OVER my ballcap...JUST LIKE YOU!! Then I told them I was doing a CHUCK!!! I am serious. I LOOKED JUST LIKE YOU when I did that.
I mean, when it rains and knew not new. I really need to read what I write before I hit the button!!
Kris,
You can't look like me or should you want to. I look like an idiot running! You are a lot cuter.
But, I do feel honored if its one thing I'll be remembered...it is the guy who wears the headband over his ballcap.
Hmmm...Maybe, I might be onto something here. A new piece of hat apparel.
Who wants to make a million dollars with me?
Sorry, you're out of luck! They sell it. Check out http://www.harrietcarter.com/Detail.cfm?prod=5641&UDC=Y
That's okay - I came up with the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwhich when I was ten. somebody stole my idea and made their million!
Heh! Heh!
Remember the movie "The Sure Thing" with John Cusak and the newspaper boy that wanted his, "$2!" ? If you become one of the Abe's Army leaders, I will knock off $8 and lower your fee to, $2.
You'd be an awesome leader Chucky Doll! :)
Ahhhh... I meant the movie, "Better off Dead"!
