Will there be water or do we need to carry some?

Usually there are water stops about every 3-4 mile intervals.

I heard from a friend that you guys may have a plan for new runners. Where can I find that? I haven't ever been a long distance runner but I am trying to train for a half with no clue how to start? Any advice would be great! Thanks!

OH, OH, OH, no, no, no Pammy.

If I remember Tuesday right, and I'm sure I do, it was YOU who had read some obscure article, who knows where, that wanted to run the long run first and then the middle and then the short one. It was YOU Pammy, that decided she was going to be the big leader of the group on Tuesday night clear up until it was time to run the out and backs, then who was it that had to be the heavy and make everyone run? Was it Pammy? Nope. You pointed at me and made me the heavy. AAAnnnddd now, you make it sound like it was Tim and I that wanted to change up Tim's well laid out training plan. Nope, aint gonna happen, it was little miss Pammy, miss big shot leader, miss run off ot Florida for a week who made the changes.

Sorry for the hostile reaction everyone, Pam needs to be put in her place. :-) Right Tim Mu?

Sarah, if you read through all of that and are reading this. Feel free to talk to any of us about training to run long, we're all more than glad to help. First and for most put one foot in front of the other and keep going, don't quit. Plus, and don't listen to Pam!

Just saw a news story that might interest the Half-Wits. The story comes from the Ft. Myers, Florida airport. A passenger was caught trying to smuggle contraband onto a flight from Ft. Myers to St. louis. The passenger was identified as a Pamela E. from Springfield,Ill. Security became suspitious because of the wording on the shirt the passenger was wearing. It said HALF_WITS GONE WILD.(that was a shirt several of the original half-wits had made while training for a full marathon.) Oh! you ask what was the contraband she was trying to bring aboard? One THOMBSTONE pizza and a 12 pack of beer!

Tim Mu

P.S. Hey Pammy paybacks are hell.

Here is a link to hal Higdon's Novice Half Marathon Training plan.

http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/novice.htm

I have used his programs for a half and a full. His plans are very simple in understanding and can be shifted to meet your needs. They also include a breif description on how you should be training each day.

With that said, there seems to be plenty of group runs around.

Stick around here and you'll learn plenty.

Hey Sarah,

Ther are a lot of factors going into starting including, your current fitness level, current milage, time to the 1/2 marathon you want to run. In general increase your milage by no more than 10% each week. Increase for 3 weeks and then take a step back week with less miles to allow your body some recovery time. Do this with plenty of time to your half marathon. Get involved with any of the training groups the club has to offer and hook up with other runners your speed who have experience. You can also look at the Runners World website. They have a lot of training programs including all fitness levels. Don't go out too hard, pace yourself and don't get discouraged.

Most of all have fun!

Hey everyone, just got back from Florida! I wanted everyone to know that I ran a 5K race while I was there and I took a minute off my PR time! Must have been that workout from Tuesday night!!!!! Roger and Tim Mu., I brought back a rum runner for you guys so you can lighten up, lol. See, sometimes you need to mix it up every now and then and it pays off. :) Maybe you two should listen to me more often, hehehe. Oh, and Tim Mu., I had more than one Thombstone packed, I'm always prepared for flight delays.

I am not running with Roger or Tim and that fast girl anymore. That Tues workout kicked my butt. My legs are feeling today.

Chuck, lol, I ran with "Fast girl" two weeks ago and she killed me and she was sick too. There is no way that I would have been able to keep up with her if she was healthy. Good job Chuck!
