I know...a foot of snow is a lot, but hey, the trucks are out there and by tomorrow morning most roads should be OK (not great...OK). We have run in blizzards and snow-packed streets before...so we can do it again!
So, yes, plans remain the same for Saturday:
7:00 a.m.--Meet at Panera West for Half Wits overview
7:30 a.m.--start six mile run
For Half Wits veterans, feel free to meet us at 7:30 if you don't want the overview.
As the trail is sure to be snow covered, we will plan to run the revised Panera to FitClub West route. Hydration and restrooms will be available at FitClub.
Please click here for a map and street by street description of this route.
If you do not want to join us on Saturday, or miss the run for whatever reason, our Tuesday (2/5) run will be 5:30 pm from the WASHINGTON PARK TENNIS COURT PARKING LOT.
Feel free to join us for that run. We will be doing a hill workout which I will post sometime after Saturday's run.
Please feel free to post any questions or comments (and if you don't happen to know how to do that, just click on "comments" below).
It will be fun!

I've seriously neglected this blog for no reason other than I haven't made
the time to sit down and compose something. Which is kind of sad because

OK, we are Half Wits. Are we going to let a little snow stop us? Heck no!
This is Illinois. This is winter. We are HALF WITS!!!
Let's live up to the name.
Nough said. Roger
This will be my first fun with the HalfWits! I'm excited. And I love to run in snow. And I'm sure there's a bagel w/ my name on it at Panera!

Is anyone having trouble w/ the USATF website for tracking courses? I get so far and then it stops working. Just wondering if it is the website or me.
BTW, great run today everyone! It was a tough run due to the snow, ice, & wind but we did it! I am so proud of those of you who are stepping up your mileage to try a 1/2 for the 1st time. It's awesome to see you all out there!

I tried as well and it did the same thing. Not sure what's up with it.
It was nice to join the HalfWits again. I haven't run with you all for quite awhile so I am looking forward to more Saturday mornings.

Joy - I was having problems, too, then I tried MapMyRun.com and it wasn't working either! Arrgghh!
Seems to be working this afternoon, though.
BTW - EVERYONE: Miles and Margarita - this Thursday after the workout. For those of you who don't know what this is, a couple years ago those of us training for a marathon needed a little incentive to get out and run, so we decided to run for margaritas. We'd meet to run four or five miles and then hit Xochi's West for 1.99 margaritas, chips and salsa. It was something to look forward to, and a way to socialize! They don't let us really reserve tables or anything and we all stay in our workout gear, so you don't need to do anything except throw a dry sweatshirt on!
So this Thursday - come on out to Xochi's West (on Iles) after the HalfWits workout - what better way is there than to celebrate the start of a new training season?
See ya there! Mary
I am feeling extreme guilt over not being able to make it Saturday or the following week either. Your Thursday run looks inviting (no hills!) & to ease my guilt I would like to come in and run with you all. My question is...w/it being evening, is it dark? What do you use to be seen? Still new to this game & would appreciate any helpful thoughts.
Thanks!

Check back to the blog later this evening. I was planning to post something on winter running safety & clothing!
Thanks!
