Because the Utica 10k is flat and fast how fast depends on the weather. The weather last Sunday was about as perfect as it can get for a race. The wind was brisk and out of the west(gotta love it when the winds at your back)temp was in the high 50's it might have hit 60. The trail was dry and hard, if it rains the day before Utica the trail can get slick. The start was in a different place this year and I believe it was a big improvement. The street was smoother and turned left onto a flat street before turning right to a street that led directly to the bridge that crosses over the canal. The Springfield area was well represented. Except for a small glitch that delayed the start for about 18 minutes; it looked like they wre sorta overwhelmed by the number of race day registrants; the rest of the race went well. Congradulations to all the SRRC runners that got awards, I think they came away with more awards than any other group.
How about that number 48 Tim, I'm pulling for the 24. I think Jeff is losing too much sleep getting up in the middle of the night to change diapers. These last two races are really up for grabs for the top four in points.

It really was perfect weather for this year's race! I'm glad so many people could enjoy it this year.

The start was delayed this year because the bridge on the road to LaSalle was down to 1 lane, so buses took 15 minutes longer to make the round trip. This should not be an issue next year. We had no trouble keeping up with registration, despite it being a record field; I had time to shop and eat lunch before the first finishers arrived!

...and we are very glad that the start of the race was delayed because we got lost on the way up and had to scramble to get on that last bus!

Tim Mu: I'm looking forward to the last two races. We actually talked about going to Phoenix this weekend, but decided not to go. Now I'm kicking myself.

As I was putting out my 48 flag a couple weekends ago, I actually got a honk from the Lowes delivery truck that was driving by!

Go JJ!

I loved this course! It was perfect all around. The race, the people, and especially the Starverock road runners club. I will definitely be back next year! It was so worth the drive!!!! :)

For Tim M. please explain your comment about 48 and 24. I don't know if you are talking miles, hours, or race points. you lost me on your comment? thanks for a clarification

If I'm not mistaken, they are talking about car numbers in the Nascar Nextel race series. I know 24 is Jeff Gordon and I think 48 is Jimmie Johnson.

Jeremy you are correct 24 and 48 along with 8,12,16,5,43,22,88,55,1,and so on are all numbers of NASCAR race cars. Tim Butler is a Jimmie Johnson, car 48, fan and I'm pullin for Jeff Gordon 24 car. Gordon owns a share of the 48 car. There is only one race left, Homestead, Fiorida on Sunday and the championship will be decided. Johnson has a 86 point lead over Gordon thanks to his winning the last four races in a row. Gordon's chances don't look real good, but some people still think the Cubs can win.

Good to see ya Tim Mu & Steve O' and Stephen!!! Sorry I haven't been around. Missed ya but been laying low. The Jingle Bell race was fun though. Stephen, I am glad I hooked up with you on the course and could run with ya! Those long legs of yours kept me going. You got ahead at the finish line but it was good to have someone to pace with. Keep in touch and lets plan on training again for the Frosbite and Lincoln half. Looking forward to it! Pam is also taking a break but is coming out of hybernation for those training runs.
