Half Wits Step Off This Saturday!

The Half Wits training program is set to begin this Saturday, January 27. Our first run will be 6 miles. We'll increase our mileage over the next nine weeks as we lead up to the Lincoln Memorial Half Marathon.

We will have a few handouts on Saturday (training plan, etc...), but come ready to run. We will try to get going as quick as possible.

Right now, we are planning to run the "short" route to Fit Club West and back. I will have a water jug outside the doors at the Fit Club. Here is a link to a map of the route: http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=102277

The weather forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies, temps in the upper 20s, and a stiff NW wind on Saturday morning.

Feel free to post questions, advice, or anything else in comments.

See ya Saturday!

Glad to be back with the HalfWits. Thanks for coordinating Tim. Bill Rodgers, four time Boston and New York City Marathon winner wants to run with you guys, he'll be on hand for a quick talk and run Saturday, Feb 10th at 7:30am, Panera West parking lot. Afterwards there will be bagels, coffee and he'll sign his book "Bill Rodgers Complete Idiot's Guide to Running". He said he is very interested in running with a group that had such a cool name!
I look forward to seeing you all during training, at Monster Mash where Bill is the guest speaker (few spots left, email me if you aren't signed up yet)and for the run Feb 10th. Lincoln Memorial will rock.
Stiff winds and cold temperatures do not deter Halfwits! That's why they call us Halfwits!

Oh boy. Everyone's going to want to be a HalfWit now. And then there'll be the hot dogs who try to "beat" Bill Rodgers. Listen folks, even if you might need your ice skates don't be a Tanya Harding.

I propose we all get out our retro running wear and wear the tight shorty-shorts and Meryl Stubing knee-socks. Sweatbands and legwarmers optional.

Barry, I know you have that outfit.

I usually only wear that outfit around the house . . . never in public.

And in those days, Capt Stubing wasn't the only one who wore the knee-high socks.

Boy, I miss you guys more than I thought. I went out and ran this morning at 8:00 in the little park up here in Lincoln. The only company I had was a little squirrel who ran about 100 yards next to me and then he wimped out.

I ran three hard miles and thought that I just do not want to miss out on HalfWits. See you guys next week. Even if I can only do 1/2 of the miles until I'm fully recovered, well, I still need bagels and coffee don't I?

Today was really fun, even though I had to physically drag Emily K the last mile!

I had to KEEP IT STRONG!

Bill plans to bring books to Monster Mash and for a book signing after the run on Saturday.

Great job this Saturday everyone! Do the tube socks have to have stripes?
