This week, HalfWits Gone Wild should be doing two five-mile runs and a nine-mile run, as well as a long run of 14 miles.
No Washington Park Thursday workout this week. Anyone interested in running Lost Bridge Trail with me on Wednesday evening at 5pm, possibly 4pm? Shoot me an email (rogers_01@msn.com) if you're interested in joining me. You know my pace!
Saturday's Route is a little different: We'll be going to Fit Club West, then to Washington Park. The map is for a 13.32 mile route, but if we add the entire Washington Park loop, we'll get in 15 miles. Water is available both of these locations (miles 4 and mile 9.5 ish). I'll try to come up with another water stop for you.
Remember, mark your calendar for October 5th - "Miles and Margaritas" - we'll run 4 miles from Xochimilco's (the one by the mall), and then enjoy great food while experienced marathoners give us last minute tips!
FootTrails this month has a great check list of what to pack for a marathon - now is a good time to start thinking about what you'll need to bring, how you're going to get to Chicago, and where you are going to enjoy your pre-race meal! Several of us are taking the train up Saturday morning and coming back Monday. Tickets are less than $40 round trip which sure beats fighting traffic and paying parking fees. I'd like to come up with a central meeting point a picture before the marathon and afterwards.
Thanks for all your feedback and comments - together we can do amazing things!

This just made me laugh - as we all sat and commiserated about our aches, scrapes, rashes, burns, I realized just how 1/2 witted we've all become! Because week after week after week, we're back for more!

Mary - Wednesday run - How far are you planning on going? I can meet you at 4:00.
We'll need to find out where everyone is staying in Chicago. We are at the Embassy Suites, I haven't checked to see how far that is from the start line.
Does anyone know if most of the resturants will require reservations and any ideas where to go?
What time are you taking the train on that Saturday? We had planned on driving and I know that's a real pain with the traffic and the cost of parking.
If your problem is in the IT band, you should be able to work that out. Keep massaging and rolling out the band twice a day. Do you have one of those bands to wear when running?
After the run on Saturday, I ended up going to Express Care due to a bad case of poison ivy. Left with a shot in the hip and a prescription of prednisone. My fuel belt really caused it to spread all around my waist line. Time you see me next Saturday, I hope I have gained 20 lbs!!
Are we having fun yet!!!!
Mary, did you get poison ivy from a pit stop in the weeds? You poor thing! What a story, though. One for the books!
Thanks everyone for asking about my legs. Got a call into the doc now, waiting to hear. I know what they will say, "don't run for 3 weeks"...not an option. I simply don't have time to heal. I just want to minimize further damage. I'm not asking them to fix me, I'm asking them for help to GET ME THROUGH THIS!! I'll let you know. Kim, how goes your treatments?? Are they working?
Deb, you are right about just one 20. Its just hard for me to let it go. I HATE being human! When did I lose my invincibility? I used to be able to think it, then do it. I have limitations now. BOOO!
PS..If anyone hears of a sale on Motrin, let me know....
