Labor Day Weekend - HalfWits Gone Wild Runs

Here's a link to the map for this weekend's runs. There are groups meeting at 6:30 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

From Runner's World:
"Connecting with other runs and thinking of them as your 'brothers and sisters in running' can improve your experience...There's a time to be competitive...but on other occasions [such as our long weekend runs] you'll gain more by making a 'human-to-human connection'."

So in other words, the power of the group is simply amazing...... Enjoy just being a part of the group - no matter how fast or how slow you run, because in the end, it's the experiences that matter!

See you all on the road, er...trail!

Yep that me in the black and white feathers in the back.

I'll be on the trail to a certain extent. I will be leading a group of different runners called "Team In Training" at 6 a.m.

Hopefully Ill walk/run into ya all.

I'm seeing next year's Half Wits shirt with a row of little penguins waddling across the front, and the back of the shirt is a view of their little tail feathers.

The Lone Runner!! -- I ran the 18 miles today on the trail. A beautiful cool morning with a slight mist. After the first 2 miles, I got rid of the stressful problems in my head from work and concentrated on my surroundings. The trail out to Chatham is so peaceful. I miss running with the group, but this gives you so much time to reflect and appreciate your surroundings. It's amazing how all the flowers, leaves, wildlife, really grab your attention when it's just you.
I hope you all enjoy your run this weekend as much as I did.

Jenni G. - I didn't have a much kick left as last weekend, but I made sure I ran it in.

We have an early flight out of St. Louis, so no. There aren't too many days to sleep in anymore!

Good luck tomorrow Mary, Jess and Jenny. It was a great day today and I hope you guys get a repeat of what we had. I'm so glad we have a 18/20 miler under our belts. Just two more 20's to go and we are there!

Mary, are you running on Thursday nights? If you are, what is your mileage going to be and what time are you going to start? I may start running in the park on Thursday nights. The kids only have two things going that night so that is a light night for running around.
