Week 2 Long Run - 7 miler

Click here for the link to the route for Saturday. We'll go from Panera West to Fit Club West (bathrooms and water inside) .

We'll start at 7am, though there may be people there earlier running extra miles that day. There's also Tim Butler's group running the Abe's Amble Course (starting line at the fairgrounds) at 7am.

And if you're lucky enough to get away for the long weekend, just be sure to get in your long run - remember those reasons I asked you to think about this week? The 7 reasons why you want to run a marathon? Focus on one each mile. Here's my list - share with me yours.

  1. Someone told me I wasn't strong enough to do it
  2. I am the strongest physically I've ever been - why not now?
  3. My kids think it's pretty darn cool to have a marathon mom.
  4. Sweaty is sexy (whoever you girls are who have that on your shirts - I want one of those!).
  5. I love Chicago - my favorite big city.
  6. I've got lots of excess energy to get rid of.
  7. What else could I possibly do that brings me such satisfaction as being part of Springfield's running community? You guys rock!
  8. Okay, the route is actually 7.15 miles so in case I need more motivation:
The post-race party (refueling and rehydrating in all the right or wrong, or whatever, ways)- what else? Watch out Chi Town - we're coming on up!


See you Saturday - this might be a good day to wear your water/fuel belts if you have them because it's heating up in Illinois! I'll be sure to bring the chocolate (I'll freeze it overnight!)
