Well, what a great time. I had a blast and even ran the darn thing! I loved the Weiner(foil wrap)or should I say Winner blanket at the finish. I can't Thank You enough HalfWits for being a part of a huge Milestone in my life. My husband saw smiles and saw the runners cheering on each other and I think now understands alittle more of what I am talking about each night after running with the group. Thanks to you all.

I'm normally not a big group joiner. But the Half-Wits have really struck as a caring group. I appreciate all the encouraging words as I trudged my through the course. I wanted to quit so many times, but I was able to stumble home in about 2:34. I'm proud to say I was a small part of such a great group of people.

Special thanks, to Barry and Tim, who gave me words of wisdom at least a couple times today.

Thank you so much to Steph and Chuck for cheering us all in. It felt wonderful to hear you two and it got me through to the bitter end. Thanks for playing such an important role in the Half Wits!

And Steph - way to go bringing home the hardware!

Thanks Tim and Half Wits for all the great encouragment. I have met some awesome people though out this training. I couldn't have done it without you. Non runners ask why I run and my pat answer is to lose weight or eat chocolate and not feel so guilty. It gives me energy and reduces stress. But the real reason is because I love being around a bunch of Half Wits that understands this running thing. Great Job Half Wits! And thanks again to Tim for being there for us.

Robin - thanks for always being there! You were a great source of encouragement. You did it girl. And you're right - no one understands this running thing. I tried to explain it to a bunch of cows on the route (okay, I was hallucinating), but they didn't get it! Looking foward to continuing with this group, whether it's Indy bound or otherwise! For those of us who have never run this distance - congratulations. We did it! And as John Bingham says - regardless of your time, you got over the finish line. Think of how many people actually did that today and how many were still in bed!

You've changed today...
"But these changes are not the ones that are the most important. The changes that matter most are the ones going on inside, where you can’t see them. I'm not talking about the subtle increases in the strength of your heart or lungs or legs. I'm talking about the very real changes in the strength of your resolve and your spirit.

Each day that you invest in yourself, you are becoming more of what you want to be. By giving yourself permission to dream of new PRs or completing a 5K (or a flippin' 1/2 marathon!!!!!!), you are making sure that there is hope in your life. Instead of looking backwards to the good old days, you are assuring yourself that the best is yet to come.

At the heart of the matter, the real changes are in how you think about yourself. By discovering your limitations and then overcoming them, you can learn to be your own hero. And that, for most of us, is the biggest change of all. "

We did it!

Ali Ali Ali - you tech support guys just don't come over to our side very often. All programmers are deep - didn't you know that?

There's just a lot for you to learn - stop by my cube on Monday!

And you sure smelled great today- no fair! We'll have to do the torch run together! Chicago? Hmmmm we'll see. I know I have half of it in me. And if Tim does the training, I'll be there, too!

To see my fellow halfwits and five milers there at the finish line was incredible.

I can't take the credit for all the deep thinking- this is a Penguin quote from www.waddleon.com

But as I ran today - instead of getting down on myself as I did in January - I kept telling myself: this is my race and my only competition is myself. Passing people at the end? Priceless!

Oh, sweetheart - we're only a couple years apart - I'm just much younger looking, aren't I! We have way more fun on our side of the building - lots of giggles and grins - the only way to stay sane writing programs to drive tech support nuts! When I leave, you guys will miss me!

Catch you Monday! You did awesome today!

Are you keeping up with us Indy nuts? We still need the group to keep us lean and mean!

Gotta finish my movie - watching Rent. The dancing just wears me out!

Wow, did we have fun?

Half Wits you did it!!!

I want to congratulate all of you! I never had so much fun rooting for you guys. I know Tim was busy help track the race results, but I am hoping he had the priveledge of watching some of you guys finish like I did. It was such an honor and a pleasure cheering you all cross the 13 mile threshold and finish the race strong. I know I only did the 5 mile run, but if I had to do it again, I wouldn't change a thing. To see your determined faces at my 2 1/2 mile turn around gave me so much happiness and then to witness most of you complete your first official Half Marathon...WOW!!! The one thing, I will always remember most about the race...in true Half Wits spirit, it was awesome hearing each other give one another encouragement. I know I may not know each of you personally by name, but I do know most of you by face. Damn, that was fun and awesome!!!

Half Wits don't stop now...you only have begun!!!

(Barry join me on this one)
Keep It Strong!!!

All the way to the finish. This race was a real kick in the head, and I loved every step of the journey.

What a great experience this has been!!! I never in my life would have thought that I could run 13 miles at the age of 52....but I did it. Heck we all did it!!! Congratulations to all who accomplished this!! You were awesome! Many, many thanks to Tim and the other Half-Wits. Their words of encouragement help to keep me going. We were one big family out there and kept each other going. It was awesome to hear my name being called out at the water stops (Laurie and Jessica) and at the finish line....knowing that everyone was cheering me on and keeping me going. Thanks so much to everyone!! And a BIG thanks to my friend Mary who got me started running almost one year ago. Without her along, I think I would have stopped after the first ten steps. Thank you Mary...you are a true friend. :-) Once again, we did it and we should all be very proud of our accomplishment. PS...While out on the road did anyone else notice the birds circling overhead??? The thought that I could possibly be road kill food for hungry vultures also kept me going!!!! LOL!!!

52? You don't look a day over fast cars and freedom! I'm just glad we're not in the same age group. Just wait till the tailgate at Indy! Lakshmann can be our DD!

Helen - it's all good - we did it together. For all your advice, encouragement, music, late night IM, and b#$%^ sessions, you kept me going. Truthfully, I didn't think we'd last the summer!

Hey, we all need some reason to get the heck out of the house, why not running our a$$es off!
