Remember your Half Wits shirts this Saturday! We are going to get a group shot before we run.
This Saturday we will be running the actual Lincoln Memorial 1/2 Marathon course, so we will be meeting at Bridgeview Park, NOT AT PANERA, at 7:30 a.m.
Here is a link to the map of the route: http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=8010
To get to Bridgeview Park: take I-55 south across Lake Springfield. Take Exit 88 (E. Lake Shore/Chatham exit). At end of ramp turn right. Take the first right onto Lakewood. Take Lakewood about a 1/3 mile to entrance to Bridgeview Park.
Please park in the Bridgeview Park parking area (grassy area to the left of driveway). Please do not park in the parking lots of the clubs adjacent to Bridgeview Park. Additional parking is available at the entrance to the Lake Springfield Marina right after you turn onto Lakewood.
Please be careful on this route. These are country roads and they are busy. We will have water along the course in at least a couple locations.
Any questions about this route or where to meet?

I've seriously neglected this blog for no reason other than I haven't made
the time to sit down and compose something. Which is kind of sad because

One question: Will there be bread crumbs or other markers for those of us who follow the person ahead of us, even if THAT person takes the wrong turn (or just doesn't turn where they are supposed to)?
The course will be marked by Saturday, which means all the turns will have spray-painted arrows to keep you going in the right direction. And of course, once you turn around at 6.5 miles it is the same route back!
I ran the course yesterday by myself because Saturday morning I have to paint the room that is going to contain my child when it arrives in July. I want to get the room ready for him ASAP so I'm not doing it at the end of June. Too bad you didn't make baby sized Half Wit's shirts Tim. I'd have bought one for him.
It was a bit windy yesterday but since the wind was out of the west it blew me for a mile or two. Hopefully it is like that during the actual race. I wore my Half Wit shirt so I was representin'.
